Is An Accounting Degree Worth Another Year And A Half Of School?

I can graduate the first semester of my junior year in college with a BBA in Finance and a minor in Spanish. I could alternatively stay another 3 semesters and get a double major in Accounting/Finance with the Spanish minor as well.
If I just do finance I can get my parents to pay for the difference in grad school ( a year and a half’s worth of grad school.) If I graduate early what degree would you recommend?

  1. Definately! Accounting majors are in very, very high demand. I would highly recommend you stay and get that Accounting degree. It will continue to open doors for you 20 years down the road. People will maybe not even interview you in a lot of business positions without an Accounting degree on your resume. I have seen this over and over again.
Look online, many positions are looking for business majors. Finance and Accounting fall into these positions. Now look a little further….at least 30% more positions are strictly for Accounting degrees. Thats huge!
Also, if you spend another year and a half in school you will have missed this nasty recession and be getting into the real world right when the recovery hits. Firms will be paying top dollar for new grads at that point.
