How Can Bills Be Paid If You Are Away From Home?
My granddaughter went to her inlaws for the holidays as her husband is deployed. She did not take her checkbook. She has an account with the Navy Federal Credit Union. Her rent is due, her telephone bill is due. What means are there for her to pay her bills? I am not familiar with Navy Credit Unions or banking procedure (my husband pays bills thru Quicken)

http://www.navyfcu.org/access/transferBi… She can use their online bill pay service and directly withdraw the funds from her account to pay the bills without issuing a paper check. Or she can use a credit card to pay those bills, too. The instructions are on the link above. Thank her for her husband’s service.

Most people use online bill pay these days – she can log onto any computer and pay her bills.
Normally if someone will be gone around the first they would pay their rent in advance.
She might be able to call them and get them to do a “check by phone” but she will need her routing and account number.
They also might take a credit card over the phone.

online banking – I pay most of my bills that way anymore – rarely write checks – I can get access to my account from any computer with internet access – tell her to call the big account sand let them know she is out of town and forgot her checkbook – they aren;t going to throw her out on the street

She should be old enough to take care of this on her own. Her rent will need to be sent via western union to her landlord, phone bill can be paid by credit card over the phone.

Have her check the credit union’s website for a link to pay her bills through their website.

if there is a Branch near by then she can get some counter checks or even cashiers checks to mail to the creditors
