You are asking about storage. Set aside at least 20 gig for each partition

Higher the memory the better will be the perfomance.
xp require 512mb for its smooth operation, so having a 1-2 gb ram is more than sufficient.
but vista demands more memory 2gb(roughly) for its operation.
so i recommend 3 gb ram.
even if u put 4gb ram only 3.5gb can only be accessed by a normal windows OS(because it is 32 bit. and a 64 bit version can solve this problem.)
Please install as memory as possible , if u want to run system smoothly for coming years, because at that time even web browsers may demand more.

Most systems today can support upto 4 GB of RAM memory, i supose your computer has already 512 or 1 GB at least at the moment, so you will need to add 2 more Gigabytes RAM, and every program any software will work just perfect.

im not sure if your talking about ram or storage memory but ill answer to both, you need at least 1.5gb ram to run those programs but if your talking about storage id say get al least 80gb
