How Much Should I Sell My Laptop For?

I have a Acer TravelMate 230. It has 256mb and 20.0GB. I bought it back on 2003. The only thing is that it needs more memory. I Have installed Quickbooks and microsoft office. I used it primarily for business. It also has a bunch of music that I’ve downloaded it. I offered it to my neighbor for $200, is this a reasoble price or am I under pricing it? Please advice
Thanks,

  1. Unfortunately I think pricing it at $200 might even be overpricing it. I’m not sure what the market is like nowadays, but what I can tell you is that 20GB is minuscule to even what the bare minimum laptops offer nowadays. In addition most computers currently are equipped with at least 1 GB of RAM. With that being said, I’d recommend going to a local computer shop, something that sells really cheap/old computers (not Circuit City or Best Buy) and base your price off of theirs. Good luck in selling it!

  2. I have no knowledge of the value of your Acer Travelmate, but I do agree that its features seem very minimal. One way to check the real value of old hardware is to go to ebay, and search for completed deals on other similar PCs. By searching completed deals, you’ll be seeing what other real people were willing to pay for machines like yours.
    Good luck!
