I’ve signed with 5 different agencies, and I keep calling them for about 4 months now.. every week, they have yet to give me an assignment. Even when look on their job site and find a position I’m qualified for they brush me off. I have five years experience in clerical, administrative, customer service, and call center. But sure, at first they are like “We’re great come and join us…AND they even encourage me to join seeing my Resume. I have experience 4 years in Microsoft Office Suite; 4 years Quickbooks and 2 years Adobe Page maker 7.0. I can type 70 wpm. I’ve even taken their assessment tests and have done quite well on them.
Any advice?

He is making money, but a big junk of the revenue goes to payroll. he pays himself with payroll. If you take payroll out of the equation, hes making money, but if you add the payroll he pays himself, the company is loosing money by over spending.
Is this legal. Will he just not pay income tax at the end of the year for the company and just pay the personal?
The thing is, IRS is used to my dad paying taxes every year for the company’s income. He changed to S corp last year, and started book keeping system with quickbooks. THe books were updated bi monthly and were inaccurate.
I took over book keeping since November of last year and ran into this. If net income turns out negative this year, I’m pretty sure the IRS will find that suspicious and they might audit.
Will appreciate comments, concerns, advice, and solutions.
Thank you very much!!

Hi there,
I am a bookkeeper. I use simply accounting and quickbooks everyday. These are mainly my main task and sometimes web surfing or listening to itunes. I dont download videos or play games and mainly just downloading updates for the programs.
I want to buy a dell computer but I found out for the same price I can get a hp with more stuffs in it. For example, a hp comes with intel quad q8200 with 4gb memory. whereas a dell is q6600 and a 32bit vista.
Please advice.

I have a small business that has been operating for a few years, but the accounting has been a nightmare partly because we never took the time to set it up right. We use Quickbooks Premiere to cut invoices, but that’s just it, we dont use it to its full potential. My question is, what accounting methods are some of you small business owners (or cpa’s) using? I am thinking of setting up a entirely new checking account just for monthly bills. Will this help with the confusion? I’m just tired of circulating money to buy more inventory and pay bills and not having the money go towards profits. If anyone can point me to the right direction or offer some advice, I would REALLY appreciate it.

I have quickbooks and a business account with business checks. I am the sole owner and no one works for me. I want to do this so it is easier to get loans and so on versus being self employed. I want to know what forms I need to file? Do I need to file a tax return as an individual and as a an employer?
As the employer, do I have to match the withheld social security amount or not?
I want to do this correctly. I am beginning to think it is not worth the hassle.
Any advice?

I am going to be in college next year and am beginning to take a look at different laptops. I am pretty sure I am going to major in accounting and need help deciding what computer would be best. I really like the MacBook but I can’t due to compatibility issues (quickbooks, peachtree are not supported by mac, etc). For PC’s I really like the ThinkPads and Dell.
Any business/accounting majors have any advice? What laptop do you recommend for me? I’m looking in the $800-$1200 range and i would hope for at least 120gb and 2 gb ram. Thanks!!

We are a non-profit organization and we are transferring over a portion of our business to another non-profit entity. Although we are closely related, we are most definitely two separate organizations. We are not receiving any money for this transfer; however, I still look at it as a “sale of a business” and think it should be handled accordingly.
Is it customary business practice for the company selling the business to hand over a copy (backup) of their QuickBooks file to the new organization?
My opinion is that we can provide them with all of the reports they need to establish their operating budget, but that they should not get a copy of the actual QuickBooks file. It is my thought that the new entity should start their books from scratch, so having our backup would not be beneficial to them.
Am I correct about this, or am I being unreasonable?
Thank you for your opinions and advice.

I’ll be purchasing a Lenovo 3000 N100 in the next week or so. It’ll have the following specs:
Intel Core Duo T2300 1.66GHz
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
80GB, 5400rpm Serial ATA
Modem/Ethernet/ABG/Bluetooth
Should I choose 512Mb or 1GB of RAM? It’s $90 more for the extra RAM, so I’m not worried about the price, too much. But, I’m not buying the notebook, it’s a present from my parents, so I’d like to keep their cost as low as possible.
Programs that I’ll be running:
Office Professional – including Access
Quickbooks
Internet
No hard core (Sims, Doom, etc) gaming – only internet and standard games
I am considering upgrading to Vista when available.
