HELP! I need to get organized! For the past two years, in Quicken I have logged in my payments, fees, and deposits, but, my banking account is MANY years old…..and I haven’t reconciled my checkbook….so I don’t know where to start the account balance from. Can anyone help me?
I’m not trying to be lazy just wanting to know if any of you have any other suggestions in keeping the register up to date and balanced.
From what you have said you are entering opening balances into Peachtree.
The basic accounting equation is:-
Owners Equity = Assets – Liabilities
Asset – Checking Account – nature Dr
The Owners Equity will be credited ~ this is you ~ what you have put into the business.
I am using quickbooks 2005 for the office and Quicken at home, but I can’t find out how to re-print a reconcilliation report on either one. Help. tks. chris

Hello,
I have a credit card that I pay off with my checking account. In Quicken however I don’t know how to categorize it efficiently so that when I view a report it doesn’t include a 50% slice that says “Credit Card Payment”. I’ve also tried “Transfer to different account” but when I do that it shows that I have a lot more money than I had originally thought. Should I just leave off a category?
