I am not a computer person, so I hope that I can explain what I am looking for. I would like to load my QuickBooks software and files onto a device (like a portable hard drive) that I can take to work and use. Without being required to have the same software on the Other computer. I have QuickBooks at work, but it is a different version and I don’t want my information on my work computer. I have purchased a Seagate Free Agent Pro 7200 RPM external hard drive with 500GB, but I understand that this will not work. I have to have the same software on the other computer that I am using. I would like to be able to use an external hard drive loaded with my software on other computers, and not have to use the software on the other computers. Just use the other computer as a way to view and enter data that goes directly to the portable device. Hopefully I am not asking for the impossible.
